happy grandpa

it happened today

while playing with a puppy

something awakened a juvenile me

to pull out a box of unfettered joy

and dump it all over the sidewalk

and like me at five years old

I played without consequence

or worry of how it might look

which just might be

another sign of getting old

along with using my sleeve

to wipe a drippy nose
