gaze

at every single face

you see

you’ve probably heard

that God masquerades

as all these characters

waitress bank teller homeless

husband mother friend son

using one eye

like an impotent spy

He watches life

from a billion perspectives

so well-disguised

it takes a lucky glance

to spot Him

before He shrinks

into the shadows

still I have this feeling

God gets a charge

playing hide and seek

and losing
