It's Just Glue - June 29, 2023

Gary Hunter

when you’re young

isn’t hope an alternate reality

that everchanging picture

of the person you’d like to be?

at my age

I can say it’s just glue

to repair fractures

of a life lived

from an almost touchable

future of sunset happiness

hope is now for me

something whose sole goal

is to attach gratitude to

each day I’m still upright

each day I’ve fallen

and can still get up

every day that love

still pulls me apart
