every one of my multiple marriages

to “self-acceptance” ended by an affair

with some negative comment or harmful

thought that ruined our mutual trust

to this day we remain good friends

and in fact running into her recently

I thought I’d ask

Do you think we are too old to try this again?

sweet woman still waivers with that old line
