the gnat-catcher mis-judged

caught too much water

missed the fly and now shakes

his wet feathers in a tree

 

reminded me of the time

I was netting leaves from

the same pool  miscalculated

its edge and fell in

 

pulled myself out

soaked shirt  shorts and sandals

so embarrassed I hoped

no one had seen it

 

or me shaking with laughter
