Summer in the Cemetery - June 18, 2022

Gary Hunter

during war

funerals can’t wait

the dead are quickly buried

she won’t be able

to sleep on his grave

‘til things settle

how they loved

to snuggle at the park

spread out on the warm grass

so she'll wait for

next summer in the cemetery

when she’ll be dying

to hold him

as close as

she possibly can
