that the crouched hero

puts flowers in front of

the actor shoes it away

it lands he waves again

it floats up re-alights

brilliant adlibs

this flying insect bothers

the mourner’s mourning

he waves his hand again

it returns once more

this must be the alternate ending

the one they decided to keep

with the unscripted beauty of the day

the symbolic cross shape

of this little mosquito hawk

and a message for those

love leaves behind

hope is not so easily

pushed away
