Touching - Oct. 15, 2021

he told me

we don’t touch enough

which made me think

does love get arthritis

with age and apathy?

do fingers hands and elbows

get thoughtlessly stiff uselessly

gnarled avoiding necks and

forearms then apologize for

a graze of shoulders

or a bump of knees?

my simple remedy seems

to not just wait for moonlight

but hike daily over fields of flesh

up hills of bone and muscle

to sprawl on its grasses

hold and sift its soil

to not rest till

I find my cheek

laying

on the face

of your mountain
